Eating disorders can feel very isolating, but it's important to recognize that that isolation- everyone with an ED feels it. Even the celebrities aren't safe.

Truthfully, I was surprised when I first Googled "celebrities diagnosed with eating disorders" - there's a scary amount. But, in a brief list (where I know I'm bound to miss many, many people, forgive me) here's what I found:

Taylor Swift (music...country, pop, everything), Jameela Jamil (The Good Place), Camila Mendes (Riverdale!), Lily Collins (Emily in Paris), Zayn Malik, Demi Lovato, and Kesha. For those of you interested, I'll try and link some more lists down below...

Also, another famous one - Princess Diana. Season 4 of The Crown? If you are currently experiencing an eating disorder (specifically bulimia, which is the ED Princess Diana had) then I recommend you leave watching the Princess Diana portions of The Crown for a later date. But, I think that Emma Corrin really brings to life Diana's character throughout the season, and for readers not experiencing an ED, it could provide a lot of insight into the pressure, control, impossible standards, and perfectionism that EDs sometimes stem from.

Here's the point I'm trying to make. Eating disorders stem from a lot of things, but one of the main ones is body image. One's personal, subjective perception of their own bodies. No one escapes insecurity, or low-self esteem. Having an eating disorder sucks, but it's treatable. And it doesn't pop out of nowhere. It's in society itself.
